How much does it cost to get artificial grass fitted?
Astroturf Cost Ayrshire
A common question that people ask is
"how much does it cost to get artificial grass installed in the Ayrshire area"? The answer has many variables for example what surface is the fake lawn to be fitted to e.g. earth, real lawn, decorative chips, slabs, concrete, timber decking, balcony etc, etc?
We will assume for the purpose of this article that most people enquire about the price to supply and fit artificial grass where there is an existing natural grass lawn. The prices quoted for this vary quite significantly depending on the company that you go to and the installation method employed. Those who are not artificial grass specialists tend to charge a lesser price than the specialist would and this is often because they lack the expertise which may affect the quality of the installation and as a rule of thumb the finished job is often, no where near the standard that most artificial grass specialists offer. The materials used and the finishing is unlikely to be as good. If your contractor proposes to lay your new artificial grass onto a bed of sand, then you can be sure that a good quality and long lasting installation is very unlikely. Sand was once a common medium to lay a fake lawn onto, but it's now known that sand encourages weed growth, it washes away, it sinks and can encourage ant activity. Does the landscaper that you are considering to appoint genuinely know how to minimise the liklihood of weeds appearing or does he think that any old weed membrane will do? Will your installer fit a concrete weed barrier around the perimeter of the grass, the part that has the highest risk of weed growth? Will the installer use only wood to constuct the fixing frame or will he use rot proof composite or recycled plastic edging? Will corrossion resistant fixing be used? What quality of synthetic grass will be used, is it the low quality flat blade grass or a structured C blade grass with a high density construction? Will a suitable PU backed grass be used for dog areas? Does the installer know how to make invisible grass joins? Will you get a written aftercare guidance?
The above are just a handful of factors that can determine the price to supply and fit artificial grass in Ayrshire.
Supply and fitting is approximately around £65/£100 per square metre, generally, the higher price will be for very small areas and the per metre pricing significantly reduces the larger the area is. Budget installations are sometimes available that may be suitable for certain situations at a cost of around £35/£55 per square metre.
The cost of the installation is made up of 4 main parts:-
1- Artificial grass
2- Groundworks
3- Labour
4- Waste disposable and skip hire
Installing artificial grass over decking or concrete etc is normally significantly less expensice because there is minimal groundworks and minimal waste disposal costs.
M2 or square metres means width x length e.g 5 metres wide x 10 metres long = 50 square metres (50 m2)
